Creative Thinking

In this semester, we mainly used the Design Thinking Process to complete our Packaging Design. I stayed in VA1U for first 3 months, then transferred to VA1X: different team members and themes caused us great trouble. But we tried our best to overcome it and finished the works which were satisfactory to both ourselves and our teachers.

We decided to design the packaging for the dessert.

So, in this stage we are forcing on:

•Who is our target audience?

•What do people, clients expect from a dessert packaging?

•How can we make it comfortable and usable? 

•Can we keep it look aesthetic and eco friendly on the outside?

Problem statement:

How can we design an attractive and sustainable packaging for desserts that is easy to carry?

Insight statements:

- Consumers would like to have a food packaging that is easy to open and carry around

- The food packaging sets the first impression of the product and brand, and defines the quality of their dining experience

Shortlisted ideas:

•Pyramid-shaped packaging

•A secure handle that can sustain the weight of its contents : with wires? 

•An opening mechanism that is easy to open and also close

•Cut outs on the sides of the packaging: transparent film that allows consumers to see the contents within

•An exterior design that is both intricate and minimalistic

This is an experimental stage. The purpose is to identify problems and fine the best possible solution. At this stage, our team produced scaled down products using normal paper.

- Start Prototypes 

This is the last step of the five Design Thinking Process Stages. We'll test our prototypes with a select group of users and interview them before the packaging hits the markets. Asking for comments, feedback and suggestion. This step is for us to really understand the users and learn and improve.
